Lithuanian Artists’ Association

The Lithuanian Painters’ Association is a creative voluntary artistic organisation bringing together professional painters and art historians (1,351 members at the moment). It continues creative and social activities of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association established in 1935. The main aims of the Association include: promoting and defending free creative work, disseminating professional fine art, its diversity and national identity, advocating artwork of the Association’s members in Lithuania and abroad; properly representing interests of the Association’s members in Lithuania and abroad; organising and participating in fine art events, exhibitions, launching contests, proposing candidates for national and other art prizes, implementing different creative programmes; defending creative, professional, social rights, copyright and related rights of the Association’s members, representing the Association’s members as prescribed by the law; submitting proposals to public authorities of the Republic of Lithuania on draft laws and laws, other regulations; cooperating with Lithuanian painters living abroad and foreign painters, fine art historians, Lithuanian and foreign artists’ unions, cultural, educational, scientific, industrial and commercial organisations, public authorities. Main activities of the Association cover: implementing creative programmes and organising exhibitions; presenting professional fine art to the public; disseminating professional fine art in Lithuania and abroad (exhibitions); education; publishing. The Lithuanian Artists’ Association consists of territorial units in Kaunas, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Klaipėda, sections of creative graphics, watercolour, art criticism, monumental art, scenography, sculpture, textile, non-associated members and a unit of applied arts (ceramics, leather, jewellery, metal, glass, clothes modelling). The Association has opened seven art galleries and six creative divisions.
